Natural Methods for Improving Digestion.

Here are some of the easiest way to start naturally start healing our digestion system

• We heard it a million time (at least I heard it) from my Mom. "Chew your food young man." But, I am a little boy and hungry. So I chomp a little and swallow. I have to get done so I can get more or my brothers will get it.

Well, that is wrong digestion begins in the mouth. That is what saliva is for. When you chew your food carefully, you activate amylase, which is the beginning of the digesting process.

Amylase, an enzyme found in saliva and the pancreatic fluid, starts converting starches and glycogen into simple sugars. So, chewing longer give the enzyme time to do its job and gives the stomach less work to do.

Your stomach never gets a day off. So, help it out.

Kefir on a plate
• Another natural method to improve digestion is to eat cultured of fermented foods. By eating fermented foods you are taking in tons of healthy bacteria, that maximize the digestion process.

Try eating a variety of fermented foods for healthy digestion, such as Kombucha, kimchi, fermented vegetables, kefir, and sauerkraut. This usually doesn’t work right away so eat these foods for a couple of weeks to see if there is any change in your diet

• Eat real foods. This is a little harder in some place than others. Processed food are bad for our digestive system. When ever possible eat fresh, whole foods, such as fruits and vegetables.

We need to stay away from fast foods and foods that are highly processed. They are filled with processed oils, simple sugars and refined salt.

I know that a lot of processed foods are easy to fix and taste good. Not like when I was a kid and they taste like s--t. The only good thing in a TV dinner, when I was young was the desert. The problem is they are hard to digest and hold very little nutritional value.

Fresh whole foods will improve our digestion and make us feel better.

• Something that I was a little surprise at learning is that we need to take good care of our liver. Believe it or not the liver is responsible for a lot of the digestion process, particularly fats.

The liver is the organ that breaks down complex carbohydrate. Like in your oatmeal. Which helps keep your blood sugar level healthy. We can help out our liver by chewing our foods better.

There are some foods that we can eat that our liver will love us for. Freshly squeezed fruits and vegetable juices. Leafy greens, beetroots (the tops aren't bad ether) and carrots.

If you want to go "old school" bitter herbs like milk thistle and dandelion will be beneficial. No you do not want to eat a plate full. You'd have to be really hungry to consume a plate full of these bitter herbs. But add to your greens and smoothies they aren't bad and your liver will love em.

• Hydrate yourself. Most people with digestive problems come by it through being very dehydrated. If you would drink a lot of water every day it will help maximize your digestion, and that will help you stay healthy.

Drink at least one, of the many glasses of water that we need to drink daily, with fresh lemon juice or a teaspoon of digestion-aiding apple cider vinegar

You can also try herbal teas, they taste great and are good for digestive health. Some teas you might want to try are fenugreek tea, fennel tea, ginger tea, and peppermint tea. Stay away from coffee and instead mix dandelion tea with any kind of milk.
