Daily Habits that Age Our Skin

labeling of all the parts of our skin

Today on Health Care Info 101 we are going to talk about daily habits that age our skin. And a video that has 5 daily habits to prevent aging. So sit back and relax and let's get started.

Our skin is the biggest organ that we have. When our bodies are having internal issues, our skin will give us outward signs that something isn't quite right. But, some of our daily habits can age our skin faster than it should.

Our entire bodies go through the aging process. That is just the way it is. But we don't have to look as old as we really are. Now I am not talking about going through plastic surgery, or using over priced products, I am talk about changing our daily habits that accelerate the aging process of our skin. It might not be as easy as it sounds, for some.

Habits that Accelerate the Aging Process of Our Skin

Too much sun
I live in the south and the sun is a way of life. You work in it, play in it, in the winter you miss it when it stay gone to long, in the summer you hide from it. Even though it is a good source of vitamin D, too much of it will stress out your skin.

The sun gives off UVA and UVB rays, these rays can damage the sensitive layers of skin. It is suggested to use a sunscreen or a sunblock with a high level of SPF, if you are going to be out in the sun to long. And don't think that just because it cloudy that it's ok. That is when I got my worst sunburn ever. On a cool cloudy day in Pensacola Fla, I fell asleep. When I woke up I was as red as a lobster. Thank God for the Aloe Vera Plant.

Smoking
Smoking, seems to me, is about the worst thing that you can do to yourself. Not only are you inhaling hundreds of poison, it has been linked to emphysema, and other forms of lung cancer, and breathing conditions. After 44 years of smoking I know about some the bad side effects of smoking.

The smoke is suppose to delete the vitamin C from our bodies. Without vitamin C our skin losses moisture. The dry flaky skin that you have might be from smoking. It is a possibility to look into, if you suffer from dry flaky skin. (Lucky for me my skin is in pretty good shape for being a 58 year old smoker:)

Eating fatty foods
Eating foods that are filled with nutrients helps our body go about it's business preforming normally. If we deprive our bodies from these nutrients, our bodies start complaining. Fatigue sets in and soon illnesses will follow. Eating fatty food can clog our pores and incidence of pimples can breakout on our skins.

Now, being from the south we eat a lot of fatty foods. We fry everything. I fry my meats, I even fry collards and cabbage. Not in a fat fryer, but in a cast-iron skillet. I have cut down on my fried meats (the prices is going up to high). I don't think that I will quit.

To counter act all the bad I do, I bought a 600W blender and make myself really healthy smoothies. I have only had it a week but, there seems to be changes. My 80 year old mother really likes it. I have supplied a link to amazon. The reason I bought this one is because of the books that come with it. Go have a look.

Loss of sleep
Sleep is the only time that your body has to repair itself. When you cut yourself short of the sleep that your body needs, it doesn't have the time to completely recharge. When you continued to go without enough sleep your face will get puffy and you will develop dark circles under your eye. This will weaken your immune system, making it harder for you to fight off illnesses. Finally your body shuts you down with some sickness and you will spend your time in bed sleeping.

Stress
Stress is in our life in many forms and fashions every day. And dealing with it is important. When we are in a stressful situation our bodies have a chemical reaction. Giving those nasty free radical an open door.

You will have to find your way to deal with stress but, I use brainwave entrainment and mindfulness meditation. With mindfulness meditation you don't control your breath at all. You just watch your breath go in and out of your body. When you breath in you say quietly and rapidly (in your mind) IN. When you breath out you say quietly and rapidly (in your mind) OUT. And that is it, when your mind wonders (and it will) you just go back to IN -- OUT.

Shallow breathing
I was reading awhile ago where the scientist are beginning to believe that all illnesses are do to oxygen deprivation. It make sense when you think about it. It might be one of the reasons that my body isn't totally broken down, like most of the guys I went to school with.

There are way too many breathing exercisers to go into it here. Just do a google search and start. It ain't to late until you are dead.

Since breathing is so important I went and found two books on breathing. The male author is a yoga master and has a 4.9 rating with 125 customers. The female author is a registered movement therapist and yoga teacher and has a 4.7 rating with 53 customers. And of course there is always google. It's just that looking at the monitor make the eyes tired. (there is a kindle version if you prefer.

I think that breathing properly is one of the best gifts that you can give to yourself, that is why I have two books listed, one from both sexes. Everyone has their own preference.

These are just a few examples of daily habits that age our skin. Do what you can, when you can.
